Scott: So this does not get out of hand, allow me to refocus my orriginal statement to you. If "you" don't pay speeding tickets, where does that leave the rest of us? Should we pay them? If speeding tickets are OK to wiggle out of by the process that you have described as plea bargaining, what other offenses are OK to wiggle out of? Where is the limit? Are you saying that if you are accustomed to trying to get your offenses reduced to a lesser charge when you get one kind of ticket, that you would not automatically try to do the same thing if you got some other kind of ticket? Human nature tellsme that you would try what you felt worked before.
What is the justification of having a moving violation become a non moving violation? How can that happen? Either you were moving, or you weren't. No one wants to get a pseeding ticket, or any other kind of violation for that matter, but if you do,how hard is it tolook yourself in the mirror and say,Yes,I did it, and will take my medicine.
The reason I got so riled by your comments is not the fact that you would want to reduce your exposure to higher insurance rates or points, it's the fact that your comments come across like this should be standard operating proceedure for anyone who violates a law.Regardless of guilt.
Try to get off the hook, whatever the method.
Perhaps when GPS sensors in your car can document your vehicles speed and location, and time, there will be less ability to wiggle off the hook.
The fairest application of the law is when it applies equally to all who violate it. Your comments certainly did not make one believe that you also believe in that credo.
By the way, I am not a lawyer, and also,do not play one on TV. Hopefully enough of this,no offense meant, enjoy your Saab, drive safely
