US!
no, not us, but the U.S.
We have horrible diesel fuel here. The Cetane rating of our fuel compared to European Fuel is horrible. Also, the governtment puts very strict laws in place that don't help out diesel sales at all. 3rd is the common misconception that Americans have about smelly sooted cars (like the old MB's). We need to change that thought first, then maybe the govt will see that people actually prefer diesel and will be willing to work with oil companies to produce a better fuel, thus raising power and lowering emissions.
Personally I'd love to see them hit the US (espically MB Diesel... then you can spend the $$ on a nice car and have it last 300K)
My father just bought a Jetta TDI last year and loves it! 50mpg and almost no clatter from the diesel motor. OTOH I drove an F350 DRW all summer and got 8 mpg (towing) and it was very noisy (but I admit, it tow's really nice!). Ford is planning on making a 6 cyl for the explorer I think, there PSD is a hot item even in the Excursion.
I say bring em On!
