My boss has an 05 TL, and it's been great. Couple little glitches, but nothing that required an overnight stay. It's really been a great car, and the service impeccable. It'll have outstanding resale value, and probably never have any major problems.

That said, I sure as hell wouldn't buy one. Amazing appliance, but absolutely zero fun. It's probably the responsible choice, but I'm not responsible. Much.

For me, from that list, it'd be a 300C or the C230. The SRT8 would be cool in many ways, but I'm not sure I'd wanna feed a 400hp Chrysler every day. The 300's interior isn't all that great, but it's nice enough and functional, and the car certainly looks the business. I think they've gotten all the bugs worked out, and the Mercedes running gear should be reliable.

The C230 would be a close second - and on my test drive I didn't feel the bigger six was really worth it in terms of performance, so I'd lean towards the improved fuel economy. My sister has an '04 (IIRC) C320 6-speed (go sis!), and it's had zero problems... she loves the car.

The only finalist I would personally stay away from the Passat - it's more boring than the TL! And I know a bunch of Passat owners who've spent too much time at the dealer for new car issues.

It seems like you're looking specifically at luxury & near luxury cars, but if the 300 made the list, I'd also look at the Charger. In Hemi form, it's the same as the 300C save the styling, and IMHO a good looking car. Especially in white, in R/T trim, with some really gansta black-center-with-polished-lip 20s. Yeah! :)
