TheM45 was not in my price range...but I did have one for a day. There is a difference, that V8 is awsome, and thirsty. In town is poor on either, worse on the 45..HWY only slightly. My 35 gets a mixed average just over 20 (compares to 21/22 in my Saabs), HWY is 25-26 75/80 (compares to 26-28 in my Saabs). I just spent a week in New Orleans...French Quarter driving averaged about 12..mostly idling!
The M is a bigger G....more inside than out. I have had a G as a loaner...it feels entirely different. I might prefer the G if I weren't so WIDE! Both are sensational sports sedans, and senational values...once Saab traits!
