As is indicated by searching here, and by the responses so far, the traditional Saab crowd is skeptical of this method of power increase, thought it is common and popular for many other brands and forms of racing, particularly in drag racing.
Look into the various ways that N2O can increase engine output. It can be used as an extra oxidizer as mentioned to put more oxygen into the charge, but it also adds a significant charge cooling effect, since you've got expanding compressed gas absorbing heat, and the breaking up of the N2O molecule into oxygen and hyrdogen, THEN you have the extra oxygen available.
Certain application methods favor using one or the other process more than another.
Talk with people who have actually used it, not us who have no personal experience (myself included, I have enough on my plate already).
Don't wait for Jak to write back here, he's pretty busy at his shop, give him a call and get his personal oppinion.
Talk to other people who race these cars, maybe call Dave Kennedy or talk with the guys at the Lesco machine shop in SLO (google it to get their number, they'll have Dave's number too).
Read articles online, maybe (gasp) look for a book at the bookstore or on google books about nitrous injection.
There's lots of info out there.
Read lots on the (well respected) Honda, Mitsu, and BMW forums.
Best,
Drew
