I should have mentioned that the ECU still does control knock with timing and AF mix. It is still important to note the loss of ECU control over boost pressure, especially since it's higher boost pressures that usually cause preignition (engine compression causes combustion prior to spark plug firing). The ECU's first measure is to retard timing, from 1.5 to a max of 12. It's second line of defence is a slight increase of fuel mixture. If manifold pressure is higher than 20psi, and increased fuel injection and timing are not successful at eliminating the knock, it will try to reduce boost pressure until successful. Without boost control, the ECU can't correct a severe knock under acceleration. However, this condition is highly unlikely given that the engine is in good condition (plugs, injectors, etc.) and the gas is high octane. Just things to be aware of.
As Dean says, for $35 delivered, you may as well give it a shot. The risks are few and the benifits are, well, amazing. I don't know exactly how much power my Aero had with the MBC installed, but it was certainly more than I knew what to do with. I definately need better tires and Koni shocks to justify that much power.
