Wow, I didn't realize I was giving you a pulpit.
Obviously the 10 to 1 air/fuel ratio that the ecu produces is too rich by any standard, and does result in a lose of hp.
Abbott reccomends winding up pre load on the acuator to reach the desired boost level. To get to 1.3 bar all but 3mm of travel is taken out of the actuator, the 3 mm is barely enough to open the waste gate given the slop in the linkage.
Tuning the abbott way decreases the use of the APC as a safety device, and no the knock sensor is not adaquate to protect the engine.
I've used both bleed and ball spring mbc's and first, it doesn't make sense to have an expensive ecu mod and then rely on a dumb valve to control boost and second mbc's of either type do not control boost very accurately.
I'm well aware of the difficulties of dynoing turbo cars, and we did run before and after runs and understand about heat soak.
I appreciate your input but my comments are to point out that the abbott ecu is not very sophisticated and it is frustrating to have to rely on their 'band aid' approach of controlling boost
