If the fuel map is designed for 19lb injectors, and you stick 30lb injectors in there with the same pulse width and duration, guess what? Your going to run pig rich.

By opening up the airbox and removing the screens you are creating MORE airflow with means MORE fuel dumped to compensate.

You want to talk about big injectors? I'm running MSD 72lb injectors on my 400whp Nissan 2.0 liter. However, there is a price to pay with very large injectors. Drivability and idle suffer even with stand alone programming because you can not overcome the larger invalid time of the big injector. I used to run 50lb injectors with a 4 bar fuel pressure program. The car ran MUCH smoother, but even at 4bar I needed more fuel to support the hp so the 72lb injectors went in.

The fuel pressure range you stated is not bad at all. Pintal type injectors are designed to run up to about 85-90psi with no adverse affects. Even after that for short durations it's fine to go much higher. I know a lot of turbo Honda guys who run 10:1 RRFPR's and 125+psi of fuel pressure! At that range you risk the injector going "static".

I agree however that the fuel pump may not like it up there...but that should be upgraded anyway as a rule of thumb for big power.

With a RRFPR you get good drivability, and good mileage and when the boost comes on you get the fuel flow.

With a 4:1 ratio RRFPR at 15 psi of boost, it will make the injectors see an affective 80psi of pressure under boost. A 250cc injector (Close to a 24lb) at that pressure will flow 340cc or about 34lb.

IMHO 24lb injectors and a RRFPR is a better solution than sticking 30lb injectors in a system calibrated for 19lb injectors.

If you can get a stand alone, or somehow reprogram the ECU fuel maps, then just go for it and stick 36-50lb injectors in to meet your need.

The other option is to find a company that will sell an AMM recalibrated for the larger injectors like the Mustang guys do.
