I don't think you undestand how injectors work, and fuel pumps flow in relation to pressure.
When you raise fuel pressure, flow goes *DOWN*. I know, it's contrary to common thought. So even though you may have seen good fuel *pressure* the fuel *flow* was not there.
Some fuel pumps can't flow enough to feed a 5hp lawnmower engine at 90psi, yet will show great pressure.
I don't have a strong opinion about anything, I just understand how FI systems work. Calculating fuel injector flow and size are engineering principles that work for every other car in the world. The Saab isn't some mystical car that does things that are unexplainable.
If companies like Motec, Jim Wolf Technology (Pioneers in ECU hacking, programming EFI sytems since 1978) and others say a smaller injector with higher pressure is a better solution than oversizing the injector I will trust their word. Not to mention this has been my experience as well.
If someone is willing to send an old stock fuel pump to RC Engineering and have them flow it I *guarantee* you will see it has trouble flowing at high pressures. That's where your lean condition is coming from with RRFPR's. As I said it's the PUMP not the RRFPR that is causing it.
I respect your opinion, but I don't buy into the "we've been over this before, this is the way it is just accept it" mentality. In my world you search until you find the problem, and fix it. In this case I think it's the fuel pump running out of flow with high pressure.
Has ANYONE upgraded their fuel pump and still had the same lean condition with a RRFPR?
