Here are the problems as I see it:
Difficult to get the mixture right. The air we and our cars breathe is just under 21% O2. The flow would have to be regulated extremely accurately. Of course one would avoid high O2 concentrations in the combustion chamber, so you'd probably be shooting for something around 30%. As your rpm's increase, O2 flow would have to increase to maintain a constant FIO2 (fractional concentration of oxygen). I just can't see getting it right.
Oxygen is a tremendous oxidant. Recall what happened to the Apollo 1 astronauts. They were dead in seconds, and the temps inside the capsule got up into the thousands that quickly. What was burning? Electrical wire and fabric in a 100% O2 environment at 1 atm. Imagine what a fire in your intake manifold would look like. So the danger factor is too high.
