I agree with most of the guys here. I picked up a 9k and it is in every way the best all-round car I have had the pleasure to drive. I convinced my brother pick up a 900T so I get to play with both. The 900 is cheaper in every major way and has a communication with the driver that the 9k doesn’t have. This said, the 9k has a few feelings that the 900 doesn’t have. I am 6ft+. I like going 90mph on the highway in the comfort of a nimble living room. I like getting to this speed with blistering acceleration. I liked watching the Ice Co. people's faces last Saturday as my strange black debadged European sedan swallowed a 300lb block of ice and drove away for an evening’s fun. On the other hand, I didn’t like the time that the tranny snapped without warning, or the time that the electronic throttle body (one of the two most expensive parts of the dreaded TCS system) failed and limited the turbo to 5lbs of boost at open throttle.
Simply put, the 900 has cost, road feel (especially stock) and unique style to its credit. The 9k’s balance of space, cabin refinement, and performance potential places it in another class.
Good luck with your decision. Either way you’re talking about great cars. That’s what makes it hard to choose. But damn the aero cleans up nice …and those seats…
