Jak, I think you are doing excellent work. I love the Volvo ECU idea!
But I can't believe you are using stock cams from ANY year. They are soooo
low-power that you just wouldn't believe it until you try some different grinds. When I had LH2.2 and the Group 6 cams in my SPG, the power came on VERY hard at about 3800 rpms. I have dyno sheets where the graph went almost straight up from about 100 to 200 hp between rpms 4000-5000. Max was 225hp (at the wheels, uncorrected). I was never able to smooth it out properly, but I think you might be able to since you seem to be able to manipulate the LH system at will. Or you could use cams that weren't quite so aggressive as the G6's that would preserve some low-end power and smooth out the onset of higher power.
