Kind of hard to say, Brad. The main problem - severe misfiring from 5-5,500 rpm like a rev limiter (vroooaaa-RAT-TAT-TAT) only made itself manifest after the running-in period; before I installed the DI I did not tread past 4K or so on my shiny new engine (first 1,000 km 3,500 self-imposed rev limit, then 4K with 100 extra rpm with every 100 km). The idling problem wasn't there before the DI swap, but smoothed itself out after swapping DI cassettes with the proviso that it's still running rich at idle and sounds like it leans out too much (0.8% CO, low ppm) when revving it to 2.5K with no load.
The only other quirk -a slight hesitation/judder about one minute after a cold start, which then goes away immediately - has been there ever since the rebuild.
The DI system is an '88 9000T stand-alone DI. The cassette is a brand new black (T7) one. I have the original DI eprom in addition to the reprogrammed one.
Car runs absolutely fine otherwise.
Apart from the new short engine (which has a 92 mm bore instead of 93 mm and about the same CR) the only things different on the mechanical side are the 2.1 intake w/ head intake porting, and the upgraded turbo.
All the rest (RRFPR, basic head, Crower cams, IC/fan/pipes, LH 2.2) were the same before, and I had no trouble winding the wick up to the stock LH 6,200 redline in -every- gear....
