...I don't know what JAK wants to do with my turbo, but if costs more than $250, it doesn't matter, cause i'm not doing it through JAK...
Someone on saabnet, dennis, had this done to his turbo, from this same shop, and altough i don't know him, i trust that what he says is true, and he likes it.
I won't mind losing A LITTLE low end zip, because this is of course what will happen the second i add a larger turbo on the car...
Honestly, if i could get to 300 hp i would... i mean DUH why not?
My engine is new, tranny is new, exhaust new, everything else NEW... soon to be new turbo... the only thing i think i'd need is an intercooler...
i don't know... maybe you're right on waiting... but solely because i should take all the money i can take to Jak's shop in the event that something goes wrong.
...i'll ask jak about it i guess... but here's the other scenario for you terry.
The current turbo on my car was pulled of a junked engine, from ebay. I know nothing of it's milage, or previous owner. I know nothing of how often the oil and coolant was changed, how it was driven, or how much life is in it.
I DO KNOW that the rest of my engine is new, and that the turbo will need to be replaced before ANYTHING else... so...
why not replace the friggin thing before i get the custom chips mapped out?
Anyways, so i go to jaks, keeping the current T25, and get the chips made. a year from now, or two years from now, when i'm full blown into my career life, my current turbo craps the bed, from old age. THEN i want to stick a better turbo on...
...well THEN i need to go allll the way back to jaks shop, with all the time off from work, so he can retune my chips with the new turbo on the car...
OR i could just get it out of the way now... and raise the bar on my goals a little bit. ;)
I think jak is sick of me calling there and asking for advice, i don't blame him.. there is nothing he can do on the phone for me, he just has to see my car.
The turbo job will costs less than $300, and i've done some extra work on the homefront to make sure that the turbo upgrade won't cut into the money i have for jaks shop...
...anyways... i should ask him i guess... why not...
