Jouko, I recall the first time I saw that mod on your web site. Instantly I thought "Now HERE's a guy who knows what he is doing." And then I got really jealous ;)

Great idea, though I REALLY do not want to cut any body panels. I was completely joking about the shaker hood thing that Jim Miller hinted at.

What made you decide to put the intake there? Did you decide that that particular location was your only option? Did you modify your IC? I can't recall right now. I like the idea of rotating the IC 90 degrees (to up against the fender well), and I think that by splitting any air intake hose off (like a Y connection) to blow on the IC and to feed the engine air intake would be beneficial.

The inner wheel well has been popular with many tuners seeking improved air intake. I am doubtful of the amount of cool air getting "forced" in there. I think that for the effort taken to put the filter there the benefit is limited. Of course, I have not experienced it first hand, so maybe I am way off!

The pressure on the hood, by the way, is minimal where the vents are. The double vented hood intake idea would require more effort than it would be worth. Air passes over that point, which is why the vents are there. Air, however, does not get FORCED down on that point of the car, thus defeating the Ram Air idea.

I can get a NACA duct, the one I described earlier, and make my own Ram Air set up with air getting forced in underneath the car. Perhaps I mount the duct on the skidplate? I am concerned about water intake, and with this vertical set up, much less water would enter the intake in the first place. Sadly, it will be about two weeks before I can even try this :( Long trip to NC this weekend. Taking the SPuG, though, so it shouldn't take TOO long!
