Trunk floor isn't so bad

It's a lot easier to fix a trunk floor than rockers or passenger floors. The trunk floor isn't weight-bearing (at least not much) so there's less worry about bracing and distortion. Also, you can get a pre-made repair panel for the trunk floor from Saabklubben Sweden -- it's actually the floor for a 96, so is about five inches too long, but can be made to fit. I just trimmed the back edge of mine, but a neater way to do it would be to section the extra length out of the tilted-up part at the back. If you look at an original Sonett trunk floor, you'll see it has a transverse seam in this location, suggesting that the factory made theirs the same way.

Once your floor is shortened, you just cut out the old one, then trim, bend and fit the new one so it will drop into place. Then you clamp around the edges and start MIG-welding like crazy.

I'd STRONGLY suggest pulling the gas tank first, both so you don't have to worry about blowing yourself up when you weld the front edge, and so you can spot and fix any other rust that might have crept up from the trunk into the floor below the tank.
