I once cleared the computer as I started a long downgrade in the 
Smokey Mountains. Basically I was coasting. But since the computer 
calculates the mileage on the basis of just the past few miles of 
driving I managed to get a reading of 99.9 mpg when I pulled in for 
gas after reaching the flatland of NC. A lot better than the fill up 
the tank and divide method - that tankful came out to about 27.5. Of 
course that included the long climb up the Smokies in TN which might 
have had an adverse impact on the mileage. IIRC, the turbo gauge was 
in the orange on the way up but barely budged from the stop on the 
way down.
