I thought FEBI was correct quality, but I may be wrong.
More, I went to my parts store today, and they initially gave me the pads for the Focus/Mazda3/S40/V50 family (FEBI 16718, equivalent to Volvo 30742031). They are dimensionnaly identical to the correct pads for the 9-3 which is FEBI 16744 (corresponding to Saab 93 190 338). I guess the pad material is different. Are Volvo pads known to be of an harder compound ?
Now, i'll install softer Honeywell Jurid 573186J pads, stuff I always used on my Audi with great success but lots of dust.
Should I have the discs resurfaced by a shop ? The gouges are not very deep, but they can be felt by the fingernail.
Akebono is not available easily here in Montreal. And OEM pads are more than 3x the price of FEBI/Jurid... But I'll learn from this the next time I'll have to replace the rear brakes.
Last question, one question you Anders won't be able to answer...
Since that car is always parked inside during daytime, could it be related to corrosion of the metallic bits in the pads ?
