Best way to remove wiper arms? Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Mon, 29 Feb 2016 05:12:43 In Reply to: Failed wiper transmission?, MI-Roger [Profile/Gallery] , Thu, 25 Feb 2016 08:19:39 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I removed the nuts yesterday and generously squirted PB Blast into the annular space between each wiper arm and its anchoring stud in preparation for tonight's planned replacement. The new wiper arm linkage is scheduled to arrive today.
The Lisle wiper arm remover I bought for this job has a shallow cup for applying force to the stud.
My thoughts are to back off each nut approximately half way so that the cup will be captured by the end of the stud for positive location, but the majority of the force will be going onto the loose nut rather than the end of the small diameter stud.
Best method or foolish idea?
TIA
