The fuel pump test is cumbersome to complete and I have found that doing a stress test of the duty cycle to pump using my Tech 2 is better and quicker.
Inside the quick test menu you can pick fuel pump duty cycle and then live plot and Min/Max value and learn. Then do a full throttle acceleration reaching max torque in second gear and see what duty cycle you get. If it's up around 95% and if you feel the engine stumbling, the pump is probably bad.
There are many times the fuel pressure sensor set the same code so I always start with that one first since it is simple to replace. It should be replaced with a new pump anyway.
Getting the exhaust system off is fairly easy loosening the clamp after catalytic converter.
It's harder to reach the fuel filler hose clamp and fuel fill air release connector.
