Used to be a unique combination of:
Safety-Utility-Sportiness-Value-Uniqueness.
Utility is gone as is value since w/o utility, where is the value. Sportiness is not on a par with class leaders (never was but one would compromise for utility and value). Safety, in reality the competition is quite fierce and to say a SAAB is better than a Volvo or an Audi is a stretch. Uniqueness is gone along with utility and value. GM took a car with a loyal following and through the baby out with the bath water. The crap about American's associating hatches with cheap cars is pure GM/Ford tripe. I never associated my -3 with a Pacer or a Pinto or a Gremlin.
