You have been nice enough to share your experience (in previous postings) with those looking for a good replacement tire. I thought you all would like some more feedback re new tires for a 2000 Aero.
At 40k the original Michelins were ready to move on & after looking at the boards recs here I chose the Yokohama AVS db, ordered at my local America's Tire. During the 3 days between ordering & receiving the Yokos I got my first flat ever (37+ yrs of driving). When I arrived @ America's (with the mini spare in place) the Yokos delivered were 17-45-245's; all agreed they were too wide. They just happened to have Conti Contact Sport in 17-45-235 94Y which did fit. So, after some discussion I drove away on the new Contis for $820 inc Calif sales tax
Impression so far (in So California, dry)
*Noise- noticably less than the Michelins, but still not "quiet"
*Comfort- much better over Botts dots, +/- better on Fwy pavement, but the 9-5 is not transformed into a Buick CruiserMobile
*Cornering- have not & probably never will test ultimate lateral adhesion, but initial turn-in noticably quicker- this is the best part.
*Looks- suprisingly, 10 mm does make it look studlier & still no rub problems
Overall, these tire are better than the orig Michelins & ~$150-200 cheaper replacement. I'd do it again. I'll never know if the Yokos would have been better
