I agree completely. I primarily use my 20 to 150 ft lb, 1/2 drive torque wrench on most large automotive hardware. But I sometimes use the 3/8 beam wrench, and always use my little 600 in lb Park beam wrench on my expensive bicycle components, like crank arms and bottom brackets.
One other point I forgot to mention is that technique is very important in both romance and torque wrenching. You should pull with a steadily increasing, even effort until the right reading is obtained, or the click sounds. When you watch those drones in the tire stores, have you noticed how fast and hard they yank on the torque wrench (assuming they even use one)? They are overtorquing those wheels! They are still increasing their pull effort as the wrench clicks. Before they stop pulling they have added extra torque beyond the desired amount. Every time they do that they are showing their lack of professionalism and pride of work.
