I hate gear selector switches Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] (#112) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SWEDECAR) on Sat, 24 Mar 2012 12:02:03 In Reply to: NSS Observations, MontereyAero [Profile/Gallery] , Fri, 23 Mar 2012 22:28:31 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Still they keep costing me a lot of money in time wasted trying to make them fail and customer wondering, can't you just test them and see if they are bad.
Have been driving a 9-3 conv for several days hoping to build up enough heat in the engine compartment to make the switch fail but no go. My hunch is on the switch but I can never be 100% sure since it could be a TWICE unit not supplying ground or a rare case of a starter relay conking out or a battery cable or battery not producing enough Oomph when needed.
And now it is overcast so it is no chance to get the heat up.
Customer has already had the starter replaced at another shop and the good part of being a non professional shop is that when your quick fix doesn't work, you just tell them they have to go to a specialist for their car problem and they washes their hands of them.
Now I have to rig up a jumper wire at the battery and teach the customer to do the fault tracing for me when it happens next time.
