START WITH RIDE HEIGHT Posted by saabsince 93b [Email] (#972) [Profile/Gallery] (more from saabsince 93b) on Wed, 6 Dec 2017 08:17:20 In Reply to: Re: RIDE HEIGHT, Eaton, Wed, 6 Dec 2017 04:48:31 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
"Yeah no doubt I was under the impression all early year aeros have the excessive camber problem. "
Saab 9-5s DO NOT have camber problems.
They have ride height problems that cause camber and toe-in problems. The springs sag and the suspension travels up and the TOE-IN increases as does the CAMBER.
CORRECTING ride height will put the CAMBER and TOE-IN back in spec.
EXCESSIVE TOE-IN causes tire cupping. this is the problem that makes the tires sound like snow tires.
EXCESSIVE CAMBER causes uneven tire wear. Inner side of the tread wears more. This DOES NOT cause cupping.
I will send anyone that PMs me a document that has all the alignment tables and how to measure ride height and how to repair rear suspension. PM me and I will send you the doc by email.
I hate to be negative, but I see no evidence that any posters on this thread have measure ride height. THAT is where you start.
How can you put in 7 shims and not know ride height?
Ride height is not just about bottoming it is about starting with the right alignment.
Aeros have short springs and are more likely to sag. Spacers are the solution. Cost effective and a proper fix for ride height.
