You're right, it's just a matter of replacing the gasket. I had the same problem and fixed it with a gasket that I got from http://www.sobstory.com for around $13 + shipping. You'll need a sealer like Locktite 518 (DON'T USE SILICONE - it flakes and can clog oil passages) for the corners and some gasket shellac to keep the neoprene gasket from falling off when you turn the upended valve cover over to re-install it. Torque the valve cover bolts to 12 ft lbs.
