When slave has failed, cut slave piston off w/ a reciprocating saw. Then you can remove the slave. After removing the pressure plate, put it under your skid plate. [You may want to put a piece of wood between the skid plate and the pressure plate.] Align the throw out bearing on top of the finger and starting jacking up (this will push the fingers in). Then insert spacer. Viola! Ready to put in new slave cylinder and clutch. Just make sure you input shaft is safely out of the way! I recommend using the Saab space or you could mess up the new slave.
I can't take credit for this. I found it in the archives and used it a couple of years back.
