Actually the opposite is true. The vast majority of the 1986 convertibles had automatic transmissions. Only 50 of the 400 built had manual 5-speed shifters. All were silver. All had the flat-front design of the standard 1986 Saab. The sloping front coming in 1987.
The 1988 SiS was the rare automatic offering with only four out of the 288 made coming with automatics.
