All 1986 convertibles were directed to the US market. There were none sold overseas or in Sweden. Only 400 were made and sold one per dealer. All were silver with black roofs. 50 were manual. 350 were automatics. All of the 1986 models had the earlier grille design. That was changed in the 1987 model year.
There are four convertible prototypes. One red one in the Saab Heritage Collection. One "solid white" privately owned vehicle in Europe, and two pearl white ones featured as part of the Saab Museum official collection. One of the pearl white cars is based on the 3-door hatchback and was built by the Sweden factory team as a prototype submission. The other pearl white car was built by the Finland factory and was based on the notchback.
The notchback was the preferred platform and as such the Finnish factory won the build order for the convertibles.
Your car is one of the 350 automatics sold in that year. Value dependent on condition and buyer.
Figure $5K - $7K. More if the car is a perfect example.
The most expensive 1986 convertible sale I know of was sold late last year for $27K. It was an original 1986 vehicle with just under 45,000 miles. Manual transmission and an installed airflow kit. A lot of money to be sure.
