Your symptoms could indicate interference of the turbocharger rotating components onto their respective housings. If there is thrust or float on the turbocharger rotating components, they may be damaged if not promptly addressed. As the spinning turbine and compressor wheels contact their respective housings, they could be easily damaged.
If noises are apparent upon both acceleration and deceleration, there could be a condition of both thrust(In & Out) or journal bearing float(Up & Down) conditions or even a combination of the two. Once you gain access to the turbocharger rotating components via the turbine wheel or aluminum compressor wheel(After Removal Of The Rubber Boot At Compressor Inlet) there should be a clear indication of excessive shaft movement.
