My 1st 900. I believe my 2nd new clutch slave is about to blow out. Since it's my 1st 900 and I don't have the "special tools", I have not done the work myself. Flywheel was resurfaced for the first slave replaced (don't know current thickness). 2nd slave installed a few weeks ago. Farmer fashion, I put a wooden shim under the carpet to reduce the throw. Since then, having problems with air in the system. Replaced the rubber line below slave and bleeder. Trouble bleeding the system. Emailed a regular problem solver on this site - he suggested a large syringe to bleed the system backwards - from bleeder screw to reservoir. Completed yesterday. Hard pedal. Perfect, for 10 miles today. Light pedal, couldn't get into 1st. Pumped several times and drove home. Now have brake fluid leaking out, not from the slave bleeder area, but dripping off the bottom of the transmission. Haven't driven it again, but expect the slave will be blowing out. A couple of very knowledgeable "Saabers" have told me the build and parts quality of the slave cylinders is poor. I haven't seen one up close but, in the Bentley Manual, a picture shows (my interpretation) a metal? piston cylinder inside the slave body, with an O'ring as the fluid seal? FIRST Question - Is that correct? SECOND QUESTION - Can I, remove only the slave to replace the O'ring (if that is what is inside the slave? Or does the entire clutch assembly have to come out? With the "special tool". THIRD QUESTION - Also, does the body of the slave typically need to be machined (is that possible or are the walls too thin or the whole slave too fragile? As you can see, I'm speaking from a complete lack of knowledge about the 900's brake and clutch cylinder's construction. FOURTH QUESTION - Is the Clutch Master cylinder able to be taken apart and be rebuilt? FIFTH QUESTION - What are the cylinder diameters of the brake master and clutch slave? LAST QUESTION - Is there a possibility the new Clutch Master can be introducing air into the system? Thank you, Bruce
