Weird cutting out syndrome in the rain

Ok, here's the deal. Ever since I have had this car (85 900T), sometimes it will cut out and stall when driving in the rain. I have replaced the plugs/wires/cap/rotor. my girlfriend just called me on the cell phone to let me know that she was stranded 45 minutes from here. The only thing that I can think of is this: On the front of my hood, there's a rusted crack in the steel about 8 inches long right above the coil. Is there a chance that this stupid crack is the culprit? I've checked all of the usual suspects. She was going to call a tow truck because she was nervous, but I told her to hang out for a few minutes and I gauranteed that it would start. Well, it did, as usual. I'm sick as hell of it though! Someone throw me a line! I think I'll smack that crack full of bondo on the next nice day.
