To test this theory, start the car up at home and trickle or mist water over the coil. It may also happen only when the weather has been dry then it rains. This is because dust builds up on the coil, gets damp and conducts the spark away from where it should be. Another test is to carry a can of drying agent. Do not use WD-40 like I do because it will burn when subject to a spark. I know it works, but I also know it will burn your car down! If the car starts immediately, that is your problem. Good luck.
