...how complicated a process it is to replace all of these hoses preventatively. For hoses that top out at $9, I would consider doing this if I am capable. Of course, first I'd have to learn which are the hoses referred to here.

In Maine the winters are very cold, and the car I bought last spring was born and raised in Buffalo, NY as I understand it. I'd far prefer to change hoses prophylactically than to find myself en route to anywhere with a burst hose.

This is an interesting thread.

I'd also really like to learn to flush the coolant system by myself, but I have no earthly idea where one safely disposes of coolant (or oil, for that matter) around here. Guess I'll need to make some phone calls on that one.
