You could safely get 270 hp with staged tuning. By "staged" I mean both hardware and software. I wouldn't recommend just software to increase the horsepower. Both the CSE and Aero are at the limits of "safe" horsepower with the given hardware. Many, myself included, would say that the prerequisite for software tuning would be to remove both the exhaust & intake restrictions. The intake is easy: remove the snorkel and add a few more holes to the top of the filter housing. For the exhaust on a turbo, like other things in life, bigger is better - it'll reduce back-pressure, increasing VE, and will also lower exhaust gas temperatures (EGT's), which can get quite high on a stock Aero or CSE. For every degree drop in EGT's, the intake temperatures will drop the same amount - win-win for both hp and mechanical components like exhaust valves. A 3" downpipe goes for $250, but you really should match it w/a 3" cat' - those are the most critical pieces in puzzle. A good aftermarket 3" cat is about $100. Good software isn't cheap, and with the lousy economy ($ vs kroner), is more expensive now than ever. Why kroner? Because the best software originates in Sweden. The Trionic was developed there and the knowledge base is much wider there because of it. There are US suppliers, but they get it from Sweden. Anyway, expect to pay ~$750-$1000 for good, safe software. Actually, to illustrate how strong these engines are, you could bolt-on a few other parts and safely get well over 400 hp, WITHOUT changing the pistons, crank, rods, or the head.
