Not to slam, just saying don't do it. If you're short on funds why not keep that 87 running as is and save up for an already-cheap CSE turbo?
To add to your complexity there is something unique about the 86 transmission, though it escapes me now.
At a very minimum you're going to need the complete harness from the 86, and don't forget the exhaust.
It's also difficult to get knowledgeable responses on the pre-trionic models because there are so few of them on the road these days; thus fewer folks well-acquainted with their particular setups.
Sorry to do exactly as you asked not to, but I have to. I hate to see good money thrown into a project such as this -- it would literally buy you a running, complete, and much faster and improved post-93 turbo model.
