Abbott springs will certainly give you a firm ride, from my experience - it was a bit too firm for my tastes though that was some years ago and they may well have changed. They gave excellent handling (with Konis) on smooth roads but were a bit much on rough ones.
If you change to lowered/stiff springs you're going to need the shocks/struts anyway, especially as you think yours are shot.
I agree with Ken Fisher about the tyre pressures - I go to 36½ with my F1 GS-D3s but would expect 39 to make things skitter about.
