I'm leaving the exhaust manifold, turbo, etc in the car. I can't see any reason to remove it from the vehicle. Removing the manifold would require removing the O2 sensor which looks like it's more trouble than it's worth. All those little clips and such. I pulled off the intake pipe from the air cleaner to the turbo but I'm not sure I needed to do that. I did that when I was originally going to follow the procedure that pulls the turbo and exhaust manifold. I conveniently snapped off the two outboard exhaust manifold studs. I sprayed them down for two weeks prior with PB Nutblaster and was careful with them. They may have been cracked before because they broke off with almost no effort. Fender liner is out. Radiator is drained. Radiator hoses are off. Heater hoses are off. I have punky vacuum hoses so they will all need to be replaced. Intercooler pipe is disconnected and pushed off to the side. Serp belt is off with the help of my 2 foot breaker bar and socket. Oil everywhere. I didn't realize my oil leak was that big but it's an oily mess under there. I think I just need to pull of the intake stuff or pull it as one piece and take it off on the bench. The 97 looks a little different than the earlier stuff (900's and early 9000's) It would be nice to have a reference for the newer cars. I'll make do with what I've got but it would be nice to have a complete write up like I had when I did my Subaru 2.5L.
