I've checked it more thoroughly and am now 100% sure my car is equipped with a single speed fan.
There is no separate fan for the AC condensor and there are only 2 wires going to the fan motor. Also there isn't a thermostatic switch in the radiator. There are electrical contacts in the empty sockets, but so are there in the other sockets for equipment that aren't installed (intake heatplate for example). Finally I looked up EPC and it shows the socket I have empty as "relay cooling fan 2-step" and the one I have occupied as just "cooling fan".
As for operation, the fan comes on with AC. When I just tried to let it idle and see at which temp it turned on, it varied from 102-110C as read by the ECU.
The fan control uses the other coolant temp sensor, the same as the EDU on the left side of the engine, right? This sensor is still the original from factory. Maybe it's tired and not 100% accurate, thus making the fan start up at a slightly higher temp than it should?
