I've owned an 87 9000 2.0 NA/auto, a 91 9000CD 2.3/auto, and a 92 9000T/5spd. NA and Turbo final drive ratios are different. In 93, the final drive was significantly lengthened(at least on the turbo/5spd). This helped MPG, but hurt all-out acceleration. My 91 2.3/auto got horrible in-town mileage. My 92 turbo isn't bad, but it will never hit the 30+ MPG of the 93+ longer geared turbos. Incidently, my 87 2.0/auto averaged 26 MPG(by math, not EDU.) It all points back to the gallons used/miles driven. That is your MPG. If I reset my EDU and drive up a lot of hills/idle, I get 11-12 MPG. Not really acccurate.
