I'm finally convinced that the snowfall is done here for the year, in spite of the temperature not rising above high 40s,yesterday.
I've separated the Aero rims last fall to clean them up with a nice coat or two of paint, after living with unscrubbable tarnish on them for several years.
I got ready to take off my snows ( 15", '89 CD rims from my earlier car.) and put these nice Aero rims with the summer sneakers.
I've got a impact wrench rated at 325 Ft pounds, and a compressor that puts out 150 PSI.I squirted PB blaster on all the lugs, in advance just to satisfy the gods of easy garage work.
On the first wheel, I was able to break two of the four with the cross arm tire iron. I sat the impact wrench on the other two for about 5 minutes apiece, to see if I could break 'em that way...no dice. Next was the 30" pipe on the cross arm, but I stopped before I blew out a heart valve....
I've squirted the PB blaster a couple of more times and let it sit over night.
I've not bent the cross arm yet, nor broken a lug, but I'm not going to stop until I can report success. I will continue to try patience and positive Carma ( some garage literary license...)
I did pick up some anti-seize compound, for when I do succeed.
I was actually late in putting the snows on too, about early december, last fall.....I don't suspect that these are cross threaded, either......nor over-torqued, as they went on and done to 90 ft-lbs.....
Lets see what day 2 brings....
