One thing I learned recently is that ratings on impact wrenches are completely bogus. I bought one that was rated at 320ft-lb, and at the maximum settings I could not even remove a freshly torqued (i.e. not seized) 80ft-lb wheel bolt. I know it takes more torque to remove than put on a bolt, but I'm pretty sure it's not 4 times more. I returned that thing, since it was completely useless, and got one rated at 800ft-lb. This thing BARELY removes wheel bolts that have even the slightest amount of seize. I can much more easily remove the same bolts with a 24" breaker bar and not even half my weight, which indicates to me that the actual torque the "800ft-lb" wrench is exerting is more like 200ft-lb.
If you don't have one, get a 24" (or larger) breaker bar, preferably a 3/4" but at least 1/2" drive.
