I have always put on Starla-Walker versions from eEuroparts.

I find the flex pipes go first and I've replaced those and kept the rest of the system, but if a muffler goes I usually just do the whole thing at once. It costs more, but then I don't have to think about it or wrestle with getting just one rusted piece off the car.

Hanging it right seems to make a difference on longevity. Getting it so it's as straight as possible from the cat back to the center resonator it seems to help. Note that the flex pipe should point up at the back for the system to be straight.
