So no difference in wear on bearings. And the brushes are always in contact with the slip rings, at identical spring tension, so no difference in wear there, charging or not. Only wear it suffers from use vs non-use is heat from current running through the diodes and windings, and at temps like these that may be in fact good for it.
I may well do a preemptive hookup of the charger this evening.
