There are a bunch of places you can get a coolant leak. Check the hoses at the throttle body. They can leak, and even run down the underside of the big hose that runs down the tranny end of the engine, then leak onto the tranny casing and drip onto the ground. Took me a while to find this one on daughter's '95!
I'm guessing that the gurgling is water in the aquarium because you have some plugged drains. The hoses usually don't fail right at the HC, but it can be a leak source, so can the heater hoses where they exit and enter the engine block. Also check the big top hose at the t-stat end and see if there is a crack in the plastic at the radiator end.
If you do need a core or a new blower, my procedure (on a '95 or later) is below. More info than the other one.
