So the craziest thing has happened.
Some background - my car resides in shared shop space that I rent. It's a huge open warehouse and occupied by maybe 10 different guys. The roof occasionally leaks here and there.
Now - my oil pan has a hole in it. The ear where the transmission bellhousing bolts to the oilpan broke off, leaving a hole in the oil pan. I removed the oil pan in order to replace it, but couldn't finish the job, so I put it back on with just a couple of bolts.
Since then (maybe 5 months ago) the oil pan has become full of water.
One of two things happened:
1) Somebody poured water down the oil filler
2) somehow water dripped onto the engine or transmission just so, and ran into the bellhousing where it would have poured out straight into the oil pan.
In any case...the oil pan has been about 2/3 full of water for I dunno how long.
Is my crank ruined? It shows no signs of visible oxidation.
This whole situaiton is bewildering. I've pulled the engine and the pan. Don't know my next course of action.
