'97 9000 CSE automatic. Well, I have replaced the plugs, swapped DI's, and changed fuel pump. Still having an issue where after an hour to hour and a half of driving, car will start stumbling under load. Maybe stumbling isn't the right description - when driving on the expressway at 70 mph, car will quit running. Tach drops to zero, although other gauges are unaffected. If throttle is let off, car will begin running again. Very gentle throttle input will allow me to get back up to 55 mph, but if throttle pressure is increased, or if going down a hill to where speed exceeds 55mph, as soon as any load is applied to engine, it will stop running again until load is released, whereupon it will begin running again. Even when 'stumbling', tach will drop to zero, then come back up as engine begins running. I say begins running rather than re-start, because I do not touch the key at any time during this. After sitting with hood open for about 30 to 40 minutes, drove home on secondary roads with speeds in the 55-60 mph range without any major issues (one or two brief stumbles, no effect on speed or acceleration). This has repeated several times, always after an extended 60-90 minute run. What next? I do have a recently deceased '98 for parts - ran great until started knocking at 238,000 miles. Still runs in fact, although I wouldn't take it far...
