The evidence points to an incomplete clutch bleed. Do it again with air pressure in the reservoir. Try pumping pedal slowly while fluid and air bubbles rise from the slave nipple. You'd be surprised how much air can come out. Once bled properly, check reservoir level every day, and refill as necessary. Do not rely on idiot light, as one of the contacts corrodes fairly soon after being cleaned. That is why you had no warning. I've been driving one of our 86 9kt's for over a year now with a leaking slave. Haven't found the time to pull the transmission, and continue to use the DOT4. Done many clutch bleeds - one everytime I'm away from the car for more than a couple of days. The bleed takes ten minutes with the right (homemade) equipment. Good luck1
