Ignition systems, in particular the high voltage components thereof, are very prone to interfering with the +12V input to your stereo components. Even with the +12V inputs filtered, I still get this whine through all my speakers. While most people wouldn't hear it, I notice just about every little thing wrong with my system. I guess I could try getting a bigger filter, but I already have filter on ALL the power line inputs to my two decks and eq. When I had my '79 Honda, never had to use filters on anything to have it be quiet... that is, until the alternator starts going out, which for that car was more or less a yearly thing.

Does the DI system still use plug wires? I would assume not, as the high voltage coil is right at each spark plug, so while there are of course wires going to the DI cassette, they wouldn't be high voltage and thus not required to be heavily shielded. Hmm. I'm sure someone with more experience in DI than I can give better advice there.

In any case, the whine is obviously ignition related, and may be able to be filtered out, or may not... If yours is really bad though, as in you can hear it while you are driving and at low to moderate stereo volumes, I'd take it back to the dealer and ask them to fix it, or at the very least ask them to explain why it's there now.
