DON'T touch anything in the engine compartment. The whine has nothing to do with your DI (actually it does, the noise comes from the engine but your radio should not pick it up if properly shielded or grounded).

When the whine occurs, and if it occurs when you are idling at home or a parking lot, and if you have the time at the moment, pull the bottom storage bin out. Reach up to the radio unit from behind, feel your hand to the back of all the connectors to the radio head unit. Try pushing the connectors tighten or just wiggle some of the wires back there. Does the whine go away ?

It seems to be a common enough problem, if you have a radio removal tool, I would pull the radio out just enough to exposed the connectors, just push the connectors firmly back into the unit. Hopefully, this would make it go away for a while.

Judging from the frequency of similar posts here, it seems to be a common enough problem, maybe more so for Aeros because of the harder suspension. My guess is that connectors or maybe weak solder joints just work themselves loose with every bumps. I have been doing this since I had the car (for about five years). I have never bothered to find out which connector or wire or maybe cold solder joint is loose, I just do the wiggle and push routine.

The hard part is that you have to do it with the engine running otherwise you don't know whether the fix works or not.
